My husband is excited about the pregnancy but was not willing to do his own research to answer the hundreds of questions he had for me. I bought him this book and installed it on his Kindle and asked him to try and read a little each day. He is now coming to share funny parts from the book with me and he is hooked on his newly gained knowledge.I recommend this book for partners that don't want to read through long chapters on pregnancy. The writing style of this book is perfect for my husband with the short and direct anecdotes explaining many pregnancy mysteries.
Warning: Some of the information in this book can be a little extreme and definitely does not apply to all spouses. I am not trying to give our dog away (warning in the book) nor am I going to avoid my favorite soft serve ice cream. When my husband said not eating soft serve ice cream (due to bacteria infection risk) was recommended by the book it was the first I had heard of it, including after talking to my doctor.
Great book for new dads to be that need to have some information of their own!

Bought this book to help my husband stay connected to our pregnancy and help him feel involved. For the first few days after it arrived, he seemed to enjoy it, but after that, he seemed to stop reading it. I would classify it as a good reference, but really didn't meet my expectations for a consistent guide throughout the pregnancy.
Very informative and easy to read. Complex information made clear. Terrifying stuff included though. Constantly reading about "issues" or "problems" that may occur is very disconcerting.
This book is great for guys that need an introduction to Pregnancy. It didn't have the information on Newborns like I was looking for.
It's a good book. I highly recommend it to males that are having all the thoughts of becoming a father, wife/special female is now pregnant, don't know what women are going through during their pregnancy. It's a great book for understanding Pregnancy, just not what i was looking for.
I bought this book as a gift for my brother in law. They are expecting their first baby in February and I thought this would be a good book for him to read. So far he likes the book. The book was shipped to me in perfect condition - better condition than advertised and I am so pleased with it. I liked the little excerpts or reminders in each of the sections that gives quick advice. I think this would be a great book for any new dad.
...but he enjoyed this one. it's very helpful, considering new moms are bombarded with websites, smartphone apps, literature, prenatal appointments, etc., but men tend to get shortchanged when it comes to information regarding pregnancy, birth and beyond. the dummy books in general and well organized and interesting. we found this book to be very helpful.
I never took this line of books seriously and have purchased them as gag gifts before. I can say I was pleasantly shocked when it arrived and was awesome! My husband regularly references it when he has questions and it was a quick easy ready for him. I feel like he has an increased understanding of what's going on with our pregnancy and I really appreciate that.
I glanced through several books like this when I found out I'd be a dad soon. I was expecting this to be a bit entertaining and an easy read with the essential details. I expected a lot of information on what my wife should or shouldn't eat and why such things matter. -that's 1 page. The rest is about things like 'how to tell your nurse you want them to do things exactly as you say' and similar details perhaps better found in a women's guide to pregnancy. -apparently if you think you know your nurses job better than them you give them cookies and post a nice note on the wall. I also found the typical 'dummies' humor to be a bit dry and forced as an afterthought. The book is a little too off mainstream to garner respect from any dad I know. Straight forward details typical dad's would want to know is lacking.
